Working Days: Monday to Saturday
2nd and 4th Saturdays: Work from home (WFH).
Remaining Saturdays: On-site with an early logout at 4:00 PM.
Role Summary
The Manager – Sea Import Customs Clearance & Coordination will independently manage end-to-end customs clearance and operational coordination for sea import shipments. The role requires strong knowledge of Indian customs regulations, documentation, port procedures and stakeholder coordination to ensure timely clearance and delivery of cargo.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end customs clearance of sea import shipments, including FCL, LCL and project cargo.
* Scrutinise commercial invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, certificates of origin, import licences and other supporting documents.
* Coordinate preparation, filing and assessment of Bills of Entry through ICEGATE/customs systems.
* Verify HS classification, valuation, duty calculations, exemption notifications, FTA benefits and import-policy conditions.
* Coordinate with importers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, CFSs, ports, transporters and government authorities.
* Track vessel arrivals, IGM filing, Delivery Orders, assessments, examinations, Out-of-Charge and cargo delivery.
* Handle customs queries, first-check assessments, examination requirements, SVB-related matters and documentation deficiencies.
* Ensure timely payment of customs duty, shipping-line charges, CFS charges and other operational expenses.
* Monitor free days and proactively prevent demurrage, detention, ground rent and storage costs.
* Coordinate container movement, transportation, de-stuffing, empty-container return and final delivery.
* Maintain shipment-wise updates and provide accurate daily MIS reports to clients and management.
* Escalate operational risks and delays with clear recommendations for resolution.
* Maintain complete shipment records for audits, billing and regulatory compliance.
* Review vendor invoices and support timely and accurate client billing.
* Guide junior team members and monitor adherence to SOPs and service timelines.
* Maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely resolution of queries and complaints.
Required Skills and Knowledge
* Strong understanding of the Customs Act, Customs Tariff, Foreign Trade Policy and sea-import procedures.
* Practical knowledge of ICEGATE, Bills of Entry, IGM, examination, assessment and Out-of-Charge processes.
* Working knowledge of HS classification, customs valuation, FTA/CEPA benefits and exemption notifications.
* Familiarity with PGA requirements such as BIS, FSSAI, CDSCO, WPC, AQ, PQ, LMPC and EPR will be preferred.
* Good knowledge of shipping-line, port, CFS and container detention processes.
* Strong coordination, problem-solving and client-management skills.
* Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities under strict timelines.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, email communication and logistics/ERP systems.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Educational Qualification
* Graduate in Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade or a related discipline.
* Diploma or certification in Customs Clearance, EXIM Management or Logistics will be preferred.
* G-Card or H-Card qualification would be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
* 6–8 years of relevant experience in sea import customs clearance and coordination.
* Experience with a customs broker, freight forwarder, logistics company or import-focused organisation.
* Proven ability to independently manage complex sea import shipments and client accounts.
